Bud Nip, Chlorpropham, Bud-Nip, Taterpex Science Project?

3rd Grade Bud-Nip (Chlorpropham) Science Project that Teaches the Teacher! What is Bud Nip and why is it keeping sweet potatoes from sprouting, that is what one precocious 3rd grader is asking! Should we be eating it and why is Chlorpropham Bud-Nip, Taterpex used on our food, is it safe Safe, and is Chlorpropham Bud-Nip, Taterpex really Needed on our food?

Makes you really think what is in our food!  This third grade girl found an anomaly and persisted to go further doing more research on her science project, that should make everyone think twice what is in our food!!

"Chlorpropham (commercial names: Bud Nip, Taterpex) is a plant growth regulator and herbicide used as a sprout suppressant for grass weeds, alfalfa, lima and snap beans, blueberries, cane berries, carrots, cranberries, ladino clover, garlic, seed grass, onions, spinach, sugar beets,tomatoes, safflower, soybeans, gladioli and woody nursery stock. It is also used to inhibit potato sprouting and for sucker control in tobacco. Chlorpropham is available in emulsifiable concentrate and liquid formulations.


Chlorpropham is within the maximum residue limit regulation in Germany germination inhibitors approved for the treatment of potatoes for the purpose of preservation after harvest. Chlorpropham products are approved as a germination inhibitor for potatoes in Germany, Austria and Switzerland." Wiki
