Figurative Longitude Poetry Anchor Text

Metaphor, simile, personification too, Figurative language, there's so much to do. Hyperbole, alliteration, oxymoron, These tools of expression, we lean upon.

With metaphor, we compare two things, Without using "like" or "as" in our flings. A heart of stone, a sea of tears, We paint a picture, that's crystal clear.

Simile, like metaphor, compares two things, But with "like" or "as", our imagination sings. As sweet as honey, as light as a feather, Our words take flight, in any weather.

Another Poem:

In the garden of life, we plant our seeds, And tend to them with love and care, Our hopes and dreams, they are the weeds, That we pluck out with great despair.

With metaphor, we see the world anew, The sun, a golden ball in the sky, The clouds, a blanket, so soft and blue, The sea, a mirror, reflecting on high.

Simile, like a bird in the sky, Our spirits soar, so light and free, We spread our wings, and we fly, Towards the horizon, our destiny.

Personification, the wind, it sings, The trees, they dance, in perfect time, The earth, it breathes, a living thing, Nature's symphony, a song sublime.

Hyperbole, the stars, they shine so bright, A million suns, that light the night, A love so strong, it breaks the night, Our hearts aglow, with pure delight.

Alliteration, we hear the sound, Of whispering winds, that whirl around, Of roaring rivers, that rush and pound, Of buzzing bees, that bumble and bound.

Oxymoron, we see the light, In darkness deep, in shadows bright, In silence loud, in wrong that's right, Our world a paradox, a stunning sight.

Assonance, we feel the beat, Of life that pulses, in our heart's seat, Of moments fleeting, that we meet, Of dreams that beckon, with each heartbeat.

Onomatopoeia, we hear the world, A clock that ticks, with time unfurled, A baby's cry, a bird that's curled, Our senses alive, with joy uncurled.

Figurative language, a world of wonder, A garden of words, that we can plunder, A tapestry, of life, that we can ponder, A kaleidoscope, of images, to take us yonder.

Personification, we give objects life, A tree that dances, a moon that's rife. A car that purrs, a clock that ticks, We bring inanimate things to life with quicks.

Hyperbole, we exaggerate for fun, The world's biggest, the brightest sun. A million miles, a ton of bricks, We stretch the truth, just for kicks.

Alliteration, we repeat a sound, Silly Sally sold seashells, so profound. Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers, Our tongues twist, as our voice flutters.

Oxymoron, we put two opposites together, A jumbo shrimp, the coldest fire, so clever. We play with words, like a child with toys, Creating something new, that brings us joy.

Assonance, we repeat vowel sounds, In dreams, it seems, we're all unbound. The moon, a balloon, it floats up high, Our words take flight, up to the sky.

Onomatopoeia, we mimic the sound, Buzzing bees, a clock's tick-tocking sound. A sizzle, a snap, a crackle, a pop, Our words come alive, we never stop.

Figurative language, a poet's delight, A toolbox of words, that brings words to light. We paint with words, we dance with rhyme, And create a world, that's truly sublime.

Another Poem:

Metaphors, similes, personification too, Alliteration, rhyme, and imagery so true, These are the elements that make up poetry, Like stanzas and lines, in perfect harmony.

From the meter to the rhythm, every word's a beat, Like a melody, it dances with our heartbeats, Assonance, consonance, and onomatopoeia, Are like a symphony, so beautiful and clear.

Hyperbole and irony, they bring a twist, To the meaning behind every phrase, no less, Repetition and refrain, they echo in our ears, Like a chorus that lingers and soothes our fears.

In every verse, in every line, A story unfolds, like a painting so fine, With imagery that paints a vivid scene, Of places, emotions, and all in-between.

So let us embrace the power of poetry, With its elements that bring us harmony, For in every word, in every rhyme, Lies a world of beauty and meaning so sublime.
