LANGUAGE ARTS
LISTENING AND SPEAKING

WATCH The Making of a Wind Turbine | Exceptional Engineering AND PAUSE THE VIDEO WHEN SOMETHING CATCHES YOUR ATTENTION, WRITE DOWN INTERESTING FACTS, CLARIFYING QUESTIONS, and WOW MOMENTS. AFTER VIEWING the Video and reviewing your FACTS  HAVE A CONVERSATION ABOUT what you learned, Talk WITH SOMEONE WHO ALSO WATCHED THE VIDEO! USE THE ESSENTIAL QUESTIONS to help guild the discussion.
ESSENTIAL QUESTIONS?
  1. How does a wind turbine work if there is no wind?
  2. At what is the minimum wind speed needed to generate electricity?
  3. Does wind use potential energy to turn a turbine?
  4. What energy transformations occurs in a wind turbines? Ans: A wind turbine transforms the mechanical energy of wind into electrical energy. A turbine takes the kinetic energy of a moving fluid, air in this case, and converts it to a rotary motion. As wind moves past the blades of a wind turbine, it moves or rotates the blades. These blades turn a generator
Exceptional Engineering: The Making of a Wind Turbine | Engineering Documentary Electricity harnessed from wind has become the second largest source of energy in Germany since 2017 - and has thus out powered nuclear and coal. Nearly 30,000 on- and off-shore wind turbines are operating throughout the country, covering approx. 19 percent of energy consumption. Our report follows the construction of a new wind power plant in Falkenthal in Brandenburg. Once installed, the windmill will be 179 meters high, supplying up to 5,000 households a year.
SOME WRITING ASSIGNMENT IDEAS:
  1. CREATE A TEST FOR YOUR CLASSMATES ABOUT THE VIDEO!
  2. CREATE A LIST OF QUESTIONS YOU WOULD ASK THE Wind Turbine Engineers, Construction Workers, and/or maintenance crews.
  3. Write a mini report on How does a wind turbine work?

Arvind Gupta Toys - Our Work & Philosophy
Our core belief is that children learn by doing - by touching, feeling, cutting, sticking -- pulling things apart, putting things together. We believe that this hands-on science helps them relate to curriculum and get conceptual understanding. We believe this will revolutionize the way children learn. A child lighting up a LED with a Syringe Generator is more likely to light up his village tomorrow.
Find a Arvind Gupta Toys Video you like and share it with me!
