- Have fun! This is about joy, not pressure!
Discussion Starters:
- "What would your Halloween costume be at Creepy Creek School?"
- "How did the friends help each other in this story?"
- "What makes YOU special and unique?"
Important Note: This book authentically represents autistic characters (Meg flaps her hands when happy, both girls have sensory preferences and different learning styles). This representation matters! If your child is autistic, seeing themselves in stories is powerful. If your child is not autistic, this teaches acceptance and understanding.
Thank you for supporting your child's reading journey!
FINAL THOUGHTS FOR EDUCATORS
This Book Is Designed To:
✓ Make phonics engaging and fun
✓ Provide authentic neurodivergent representation
✓ Teach reading AND character simultaneously
✓ Work as both instruction and enjoyment
✓ Give children ownership (they color it!)
✓ Build a love of reading that lasts
✓ Show that "different" means "wonderful"
✓ Create an inclusive classroom community
Remember:
- Every child learns at their own pace
- There's no "wrong" way to color
- Celebrate all attempts and efforts
- Joy in learning matters most
- Let children guide the experience
- Representation in books matters deeply
Most Important: When children see themselves in stories—whether it's having wild hair like Luna, stimming like Meg, or being different like Noodle—they learn they belong. And when they belong in books, they believe they belong in the world.

ABOUT THE LUNA & MEG SERIES
Creator's Note:
These books were born from years of watching young readers struggle through dry decodable texts that they tolerated but never loved. I wanted to create phonics readers that children would actually want to read again and again—not because they had to, but because they wanted to.
Luna and Meg are inspired by real students I've taught—brilliant, creative, kind children who happened to be autistic. They deserved to see themselves in stories, not as problems to be solved, but as heroes of their own adventures.
Noodle represents the joy and humor that should be part of learning. Sometimes we're all too long for our ghost costumes. Sometimes we accidentally paint with our tails. And that's not just okay—it's wonderful.
Creepy Creek School is the school I wish every child could attend: one where all moves are welcome, where different artistic styles are celebrated, where falling down means friends help you up, where being yourself is the whole point.
If this book helps even one child:
- Love reading a little more
- See themselves in a story
- Feel accepted for who they are
- Master vowel sounds through joy rather than drill
Then it has done its job.
Thank you for reading, coloring, and learning with Luna, Meg, and Noodle.
With gratitude,
