Common Core State Standards Practice Test

CCSS ELA reading and Math Test | Common Core State Standards Practice Test: 2014-2015 ELA  English Language Arts and Reading

The Common Core Standards will be implemented fully in 2014-2015 in 47 states. The Standards are 1.5 standard deviations above today’s mean. Publishers (Harcourt Educational Measurement, CTB McGraw-Hill, Riverside Publishing (a Houghton Mifflin company), PARCC, Smarter Balanced, and NCS Pearson) and software developers (NWEA MAP) are writing and developing criterion/standards based assessments that meet the new higher standards. Teachers need to have access to assessments that give a baseline of skills and ability to meet these higher standards TODAY! The best free resource for teachers to do test prep and asses student readiness are the New York CCSS Reading and Math and the CRCT released test. Teachers may want to use the grade higher to make sure they are evaluating student readiness.

    I want to give the grade 1 quizzes and tests. Should my child be reading this story to herself and the questions to herself? I think if I read the story and asked her the questions she could answer them, but I know she cannot read it herself. Thanks.

    Reading passages and questions aloud to students is a good way to determine auditory/listening comprehension but does not give a measure of reading ability or level. Most students have a two or three year difference in auditory or listening comprehension as compared with independent reading level. The test above are a good resources to prepare students for the Common Core State Standards.

    Thanks for the response. Another question. For instance regarding one of the Reading Quizzes for Grade 1. Are the quizzes intended to be given at entrance to Grade 1 or some other time such as completion of Grade 1?

    Hi Patti, These are exit level test given at the end of the academic school year. summative academic test are designed to measure academic bench marks at a certain time in a students development. They are usually administered in May or June.

    Many states are pulling the online pdf printable test and going to an online format with a username and password! I will try to stay ahead of the game! Thank you for your comments. I am a full time teacher; I do this part time to help other teachers.
