How do you Develop Essential Questions?
Teachers and questions are as commonplace in school as chalk and chalkboards, yet developing or asking great essential questions is not. What is the the secret to emotive essential questions that initiate deep critical thinking and engage the student's curiosity? How do we create essential questions for the purpose of inviting a deeper level of academic discourse, critical thinking, discussion, curiosity, and Socratic inquiry into all subject matters? Developing this critical skill of asking great essential questions before, during, and after all lessons is essential for building the “5 Cs if deep learning”: curiosity, critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity. The quality of our lessons is determined by the quality of our student's critical thinking and engagement. Starting each lesson with a fun essential question is the foundation for inspiring your student's curiosity and passion for learning.
